Mango Kai
The Cayman Islands, made up of three islands, are located in the center of the Caribbean some 500 miles south of Miami and about 180 miles northwest of Jamaica.
Like many Caribbean islands, the Cayman Islands were discovered by Christopher Columbus (1503). He originally named them Las Tortugas, for the many turtles he found on the islands. The name Cayman comes from the Carib Indian word for lizards of the crocodile family. Britain took control of the islands from Spain in 1655, but pirates deterred serious settlement until the mid-1700's. Once part of Jamaica, the Cayman Islands remain under British rule as a self-governing British Crown Colony with an appointed Governor.
Grand Cayman, the largest and most populated, is 22 miles long and 8 miles wide at its widest point. The island is one of the world's top scuba diving destinations.
Easily accessible by non-stop flights from Charlotte, Atlanta, Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Detroit, Philadelphia, Newark, and Houston, this British Colony features beautiful beaches, coral reefs, a wealth of recreational options, and warm native hospitality. The island has an excellent economy which inspires top-notch amenities throughout the island.
English is spoken, the phones work, the power stays on, roads are paved and service comes with a smile. The weather is beautiful all year 'round, averaging between 70 and 90 degrees. The coldest month is February, with the warmest month being July.
The skies are so clear that everyone enjoys star gazing and viewing the breathtaking tropical sunsets
