Nestled in the northwest corner of the Caribbean Sea, the Cayman Islands lie 480 miles south of Miami. The largest island, Grand Cayman, sits 89 miles southwest of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, 150 miles south of Cuba and 180 miles west of Jamaica.
Approximately 22 miles long and 8 miles wide at the widest point, Grand Cayman rises to 60 feet above sea level. George Town, the capital, is on the western shore of Grand Cayman. Geographically, the Cayman Islands are part of the Cayman Ridge, which extends westward from Cuba.
The temperature averages around 80° Fahrenheit in the winter and 86° in the summer. Winter or summer, the temperature generally stays within the 70° - 90° range. The average annual humidity is 83 percent. Water temperatures range from 78° to 86° year round.
