Seven Mile Beach (SMB) is a long crescent of sugar soft coral-sand beach on the western end of Grand Cayman. Seven Mile Beach is world famous for its stunning beauty an is the location of many of the best luxury villa resorts and mid-range condominium rental properties on the island.
Caribbean Travel and Life Magazine recently named Seven Mile Beach “The Caribbean’s Best Beach.” All beaches in the Cayman Islands are public property; and you can walk the full length of the beach, regardless of your accommodations. The waters off Seven Mile Beach are almost alway crystal clear calm and tranquil, making it perfect for swimming and playing on the beach and in shallow waters with children.
There are restaurants open to the public at most of the resorts and several public beach bars. There are also shallow reefs which are easily accessed from shore for fantastic snorkeling. At the northern end of Seven Mile Beach is the artificial reef of the ex-USS Kittiwake. The 251 foot ex-USS Kittiwake was sunk in 2011 and has become a top destination for divers and snorkelers. It rests in 60 feet of water with the top mast just 15 feet below the surface. Several Seven Mile Beach dive and snorkel operators make the quick 5-10 minute boat trip out to the site.
